I got this small-press comic ‘Milkkitten’ by Tanya Meditzky (girl comic!) whilst on a trip to London last month. It’s a pretty fancy booklet for small press, and looks more expensive to make than the two quid or so I paid for it. But its the content that’s really important- and it’s great. A mixture of colour and grayscale, printed and written text, full page illustrations and meandering panels that work very well together to communicate imaginative and entertaining tales. George Bush and Tony Blair get rid of the month of March to preserve Spring, new legislation makes all pets ‘electric’ and a woman finds love on a cycling trip to ‘Slugworld’. Anything as silly as this gets the thumbs up from me. The extra comic that comes with it, ‘Minty’s Big Apples’ by Tanya and Gemma Correll is also hilarious and beautifully presented.
But how did they get such fancy printing for that price?? Not fair.
