Peter Bagge’s new Hate annual is out and, not surprisingly, I loved it. In this issue the family go to meet Lisa’s parents for the first time, despite being together for many years. For the first time we get an insight into why Lisa was such a crazy character in the early days of the strip, and although still funny, this issue was a little depressing at the same time. A lot of people are saying Bagge’s artwork is getting a little sloppy these days, and looking up close you can see that’s probably true, but I still have huge admiration for his style. Lovely colouring as always- bright but not tacky.
