A lot of Agatha Christie’s novels have now been adapted into graphic novels, I’ve seen them around for a while but only picked one up for the first time last weekend in Hillhead library. Five Little Pigs has been adapted by Miceal O’Griafa and David Charrier. I haven’t read the original book so I can’t comment on how true it was or anything like that, but the fact I haven’t read the original perfectly illustrates one of the reasons I love comics so much. Although I’ve enjoyed any Agatha Christie story I’ve heard, I’m probably not into that genre enough to read a whole book. I’m a slow reader, I tend to absorb every word and it can take me months to read some books. I read this graphic novel in one sitting. Comics allow me to take in as much literature, as many ideas and as many genres as possible. Five Little Pigs was a good read, great twists as expected. I wasn’t totally sold on the artwork, I thought some of the figure drawings were a little unnatural looking and the plunging necklines with beachball boobs didn’t quite match the period the book is set in. But hey, that’s comics for ya! (groan)
