Mister Wonderful by Daniel Clowes was a good read. It’s quite short, originally appearing a series of newspaper strips, and I would say it’s more of a ‘graphic short story’ than a full out graphic novel. Mister Wonderful lets us peer in to the inner thoughts of a middle aged divorcee on a blind date with who he decides must be his dream woman.
Enjoying this book made me pick up Clowes’ last graphic novel, Wilson, again. I’ve heard a few people now say that they felt the Wilson character was too unrealistic, noone could be such a self absorbed, socially dysfunctional asshole. Having re-read the book, I would like to confirm that a character like Wilson does indeed exist in the real world: my dad is Wilson. The resemblance in many aspects is uncanny.
